Grading Policy

Grades 2-6

The standard grading policy for elementary school will be based on grade level appropriate materials which meet district grade level standards using a traditional scale:

90%     – 100% =        A

80%       – 89% =        B

70%       – 79% =        C

60%       – 69% =        D

Below 60% = F

Students who are achieving below grade level will receive a grade no higher than a D. This means some students will receive D’s on their report cards even though they are doing their best. In order to receive an A, B, C students must be on or above grade level and doing A, B, C quality work in the content areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Students at any level in any academic area can receive a lower grade than their ability level if their assignments are of poor quality or are incomplete.

LA-Listening/Speaking: This is an effort grade. Teachers must base this grade on student classroom performance.

Social Studies/Science. The above traditional grade scale applies to these subjects if students are on grade level material with no modifications. Students should be able to show a conceptual understanding of the concepts presented. Grades will be based on assignments, projects, and tests.
